A sunlit impressionist garden, photoreal and wet oil paint at once: thick cream-gold light, greens you could smear, the sun itself a bright wet daub that is not dry. A tiny duckling in a late-1800s painter’s smock and a straw hat too big for it, standing at a miniature easel in the grass, earnestly painting that sun onto a little canvas. Impasto sunflowers, canvas tooth in the path, 1990s filmic grain. One idea: the sun is still wet, and so is the painting. Beautiful and a little silly.
